Moreover, obtaining uncontaminated raw materials is challenging. Therefore, they had to find clean and valuable agricultural waste. This involved working with farmers on environmentally friendly planting methods and ensuring the harvested materials were dried and stored properly to prevent mold and bacteria during transportation. To increase employment and income for indigenous farmers, they even went to the Matsu islands to collect Roselle seeds. Without prior research literature, the WE-WIN research team spent at least 2-3 years developing the perfect essence and creams.

Speaking on the R&D journey, James Hsieh (謝震) pointed out that developing each botanical active ingredient, from sourcing, extraction methods, to active ingredient verification, takes at least 2-3 years. The company must use current science or past experiences to explore the unknown, with only about a 1% to 2% chance of success out of a 5% likelihood, in a sea of possibilities for finding something uniquely valuable for patent application. These inventions are expected to contribute to humanity and society, and the company now holds 23 patents, building a long-term intellectual property portfolio.

Established nearly 30 years ago, WE-WIN BIO-MEDICAL CO., LTD. initially used local produce as raw materials, utilizing biotechnology to extract essences from economically valuable plants like camphor leaves, agarwood leaves, guava leaves, and others, while also developing recycled agricultural waste.
